Hello, Fall!
The fact Miss Shelley is flying the Happy Fall flag is proof that the season has officially arrived, regardless what the calendar says. Just so happens that this year, in a most uncharacteristic way, the atmospheric conditions are actually in sync with the date. So enjoy a string of clear crisp days, and and inky-black night skies perfect for gazing deep into the cosmos. If you’re a fan of meteor showers, a handful of notable ones are on the way, including the Draconid and Orionid meteor showers in October, Leonids in November and the Geminids in mid-December, just before winter arrives. A partial lunar eclipse is later in the fall and we’ll have some bright visible flyovers of the ISS.
