During a 3 day/night stay in the Linden rv park, I did some voice-over work, as well as posting on social media ( TomsMaHauL Facebookand98Rocks Facebook ).Among the celebrities from the Linden, Texas area are blues legend T. Bone Walker, ragtime piano great Scott Joplin, Don Henley (of the supergroup The Eagles), guitarist & songwriter Richard Bowden (Pinkard & Bowden) & others.There are several wall pantings around town. There is a map with the location of the downtown wall paintings, across from the city’s courhouse, next to the huge Music City Texas wall painting.TheTomsMaHauL.comcrew spent an evening atMusic City Texas Theaterin Linden. Richard Bowden (on the right in the photo) hit every guitar note perfectly, when Hickory Hill did the tribute to the late Glenn Frey, as the band performed their rendition of Glenn’s Eagles song “Peaceful Easy Feeling”. The young ladies with The Purple Hulls joined on stage, for the final set of songs. Richard Bowden is a childhood friend of Linden Texas native, Don Henley (of the Eagles). I remember when I was in high school, and we snuck into some of the Bossier City E. Texas St bars to see some bands, and Richard’s band with Don (Shilo – formerly the Four Speeds) perfomed on (what was known as) The Bossier Strip. The statute of limitations has run out, so I can’t get in trouble for sneaking into the bars back then.
We rode around Cass County, including a steak dinner in Avinger, and some REAL antique shops in Hughes Springs. Though I was driving us around in the TomsMaHauL.com motorhome studio, pulling our Jeep, the thought came to mind that some of the Cass County roads would be good for a motorcycle ride. The Montrose (with Sammy Hagar) song “Bad Motor Scooter” came to mind, so my wife pulled it up on her phone with the blue tooth connection to the rv sound system.
I used to emcee the first handful of T. Bone Walker Blues Festivals at Music City Texas Theater in Linden, and I’ve been there other times to see some top stars in the music business.
