State Fair Time!
Who doesn’t love a fair? I’m game for any fair, of any proportions, from a parking-lot sized church or school festival, to a handful of grassy acreage and hastily assembled bleachers at a county-wide event. And of course, the Big Kahuna, The State Fair of Louisiana. It’s spring run begins April 29th and continues through May 9th. This is the one that has kids of all ages wide-eyed and reveling in the smells and sights and sounds. The sounds of music everywhere, clanging rides and games and dazzling, alluring lights. The smells…livestock aside…are both sweet and succulent, as every form of confection imaginable is fried or roasted, wafting through the air along with the aroma of barbecue and burgers, turkey legs and a plump polish sausage smothered in perfectly grilled onions and peppers. Oh yeah, better hit me with a side of them curly fries too! If you love the Mexican food and live music, be sure to check out “Fiesta at the Fair” on Sunday May 2nd. The largest celebration for Hispanics in the region. Of course, whenever you go, they’ll be something going on. The lineup of entertainment is extensive, so I’ll leave the link to the State Fair website at the end of this post, and now that I think of it, that’s about all I need to say! Enjoy some thrills at the Spring Edition of The State Fair of Louisiana, here’s hoping you win yourself a big stuffed animal!
