“Rockumentaries” Anyone?

When Rock-N-Roll (or any other musical genre, really) is the subject matter, be it fact, fiction or a performance film, count me in and get the super-jumbo popcorn!  “The Doors”  “School of Rock”  “Almost Famous” “The Last Waltz” “This Is Spinal Tap”  “Ray” “Bohemian Rhapsody” “The Blues Brothers” “Walk The Line” are just a few off the top of my head.

Another reason to look forward to the New Year, as if you needed one?  2021 is shaping up to be a great year for ‘rockumentaries’.  Here are some of the most-anticipated rock docs coming in the new year.

The biggest is probably Get Back, the upcoming Beatles doc from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson – a ‘fly on the wall’ doc capturing the band’s final recording sessions and their iconic ‘rooftop concert’ at the Apple Records building in London.

Speaking of the Beatles, a six-part Showtime documentary will focus on Paul McCartney teaming up with legendary producer Rick Rubin.

Documentaries about Tina Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and The Velvet Underground are also on the way in 2021.
