Rockin’ On in 2023!

It’s a new year!  Betcha feel like a whole new you, huh?  I know, me neither.  But I’m willing to take a crack at it and dive right into whatever surprises and wackiness the New Year holds.  Hopefully good health (or at least not any worse than it already is) plenty of camping trips and numerous high-paying endorsements. If that doesn’t pan out, then here are a few that might keep us occupied while we await the next multidemic, mass coronal ejection, latest tech device or Foo Fighters’ album.  Cheers!

Super Bowl 57 is set for February 12th.  We don’t know who’s playing in it yet, but we do know who’s performing.  That would be Rihanna, so although her fans are excited, us rock-n-rollers will no doubt use the time to hit the lav and re-up that platter of wings.    In other sports:  The Women’s World Cup is happening this summer in New Zealand and Australia.  And Major League Baseball will have some new rules when the season starts in late-March, including banning “the shift” and a pitch-clock.  Aww, man…

There are some New gadgets on the way:  Apple and Samsung both have phones coming, and it might be a big year for virtual reality.  A new Meta Quest 3 headset from Oculus is coming this fall, PlayStation has a new one too and Apple shouldunveil its first VR headset sometime this year.

In Space News:  A solar eclipse is coming on October 14th.  Parts of Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas will see the full thing.  Everyone else will get a partial eclipse. If you care about the Royals, King Charles’s coronation is set for May 6th.  Yawn-fest for me…

Quite a few popular TV shows are coming back in 2023:  Season four of “You” on Netflix next month, “The Mandalorian” and “Yellowjackets” in March and fresh episodes of “Ted Lasso” and “Succession” at some point this year.  Movies, you ask?   In the next few months, there’s “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” . . . a new “Ant-Man” movie . . . “Creed 3” . . . “Scream 6” . . . and a new “John Wick” movie in March. This spring and summer, there’s “The Super Mario Brothers Movie” . . . “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” . . . the live-action “Little Mermaid” . . . a tenth “Fast & Furious” movie . . . a new “Indiana Jones” . . . another “Mission: Impossible” . . . the “Barbie” movie with Margot Robbie . . . and Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic called “Oppenheimer” in July.  Then this fall, a new “Exorcist” movie . . . “Dune: Part Two” . . . a “Hunger Games” prequel . . . and in December, Timothée Chlamet as a young Willy Wonka . . . and Jason Momoa is back in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”.

Keep on Rockin’!
