It’s, always, great to see friends, that I haven’t seen in many moons. During a recent (open) blues jam at Red Dirt Saloon (Longview), it was great to walk in, and, immediately, see the SaxCat from Karnack. Rick “SaxCat” Simms and I became friends, during his Diddly Squat years, as some of my family were part of the DSquat posse’, and went to many of their performances, when they were in the area. They were a great blues band. A good-time band. On the stage in Red Dirt, was Bobby O & the Mojos, and different guests were invited on the stage to jam, and show off their talents, including the SaxCat. My favorite song that I heard the band do, was the Derek & the Dominoes version of the Jimi Hendix song “Little Wing” & Joe Cocker’s version of “Feelin’ Alright”. There’s an open blues jam at this place, every Sunday. But, the point is, it’s always a good feeling, when I walk in somewhere, and see familiar faces, that I haven’t seen in awhile, and we talk and get caught up on what’s been happening in our lives & with our families.
