Camping With The Cooks

Last weekend we embarked on our first camping getaway of the year, destination Chicot State Park, La. https://www.lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/chicot-state-park  This was our first visit to the park, and we were satisfied customers.  If you’re looking to get away, but not really far away, (like a couple hours down I-49) this might be a spot you’d enjoy, for a day-trip or overnight.  They offer all sorts of options for all sized RV’s and tents, and have some very nice waterfront cabins for the glamping fan.  Miles and miles of scenic trails await you, and bring the whole family…this place is huge and great for gatherings and events.  The kids are sure to be occupied with a spiffy splash-pad and a well-equipped playground area, complete with a designated “Kid’s Trail” where the little ones can stroll though an enchanted garden decorated with whimsical flora and fauna, and colorful lights for that evening constitutional.  It’s close enough to shopping in Ville Platte if you forget something, yet nestled in the woods so well that noise (outside of the occasional outboard motor) is non-existent.  If you’re not among the thickest trees, you’ll enjoy night skies that are inky dark and bursting with the constellations.  We’ll probably be back to this one some day.   Next on our agenda is a March trip to Arkansas.  Tom tells me we’ll be able to see one of the wonders of the world, in miniature…can’t wait!  Click on the link above for more on Chicot State Park, & keep Rockin’ and Campin’!
