I hit the road, I-20 West bound, in the Tom’sMaHaul motorhome.  The first stop was the Antique Capital RV Park in Gladewater, Texas.  It was home base, for a few days.  We spent Thursday evening at the Central Station Brick n Brew, eating brick oven pizza, while I was the designated driver for those that were drinking the beer from many, different, Texas breweries.  We also strolled through some of the cool stores in Gladwater.

Friday night, we went to the Lone Star Ice House in Longview, to enjoy the music of Lee Mathis & Brutally Handsome band.  The band is always entertaining, whenever they play around the area.  I enjoyed their interesting arrangement of combining Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin) with Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash).

Saturday night, we drove the Jeep up to Anvil Brewing in Pittsburg, Texas, to see the Vandoliers, who were in town from Fort Worth.  Excellent, original, music.  Some call it “Cow-punk” (mixture of cowboy and punk music), but others called it “Americana”, and “Alternative” music.  Great entertainers!

Sunday, we hooked up the Jeep to the motorhome, and headed to Jefferson for the Sunday night “Black n White Gala” with White Trash Wannabees at Auntie Skinners.  We had a great time rockin’ into the year with Donnie Dodson’s band (with brother, Dustin), and their mother working at the stage bar, where Michelle (Skinner’s owner) reserved our seats.  At one point, on stage, the cook & Michelle smashed pies into each others’ faces (I don’t know why?).  It was cool to dance to WTW’s versions of “Paranoid” (Black Sabbath), “Good Times Bad Times” (Led Zeppelin), “I Can’t Dance” (Genesis), “Sail” and so many other songs.  With me dancing, it’s “fake it ’til you make it”, because I’m not a great dancer, but I can move enough to make it look as if I know what I’m doing.
