Rockin’ N’ Racin’!
While here at Texas Motor Speedway, I’ve encountered many 98Rocks race fans from Magnolia (Arkansas), Minden, Keithville & Shreveport-Bossier (Louisiana), Marshall & Texarkana (Texas) and other areas in the 98Rocks listening area throughout the ArkLaTex region.
The Thursday night Fandango stage show on the track was a great time, with excellent band & NASCAR drivers racing fire extinguisher powered office chairs on stage, drivers poking fun at each other along with prize giveaways. Tony Stewart, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Petty & Eddie Gossage, were very entertaining on stage. The event was followed by an awesome fireworks show. The crew was painting the stripes on the new track surface, while the stage show was going on. That was cool! We’re looking forward to seeing the racing on the new track surface.
After Fandango, we rode the tram back to the track rv campground, and a young couple from Northern Caddo Parish sat across from us on the tram. The young man said that he rocks with 98Rocks on the app on his phone while here at T.M.S. He showed me the app on his phone, while we rode the tram back from the track, and I had them stop the tram at my track RV spot, so I could quickly go get a Down Home Meats cap & one of my T.M.S flags, to give to the young couple. I was out of 98Rocks stickers, and everything else, after time in Jefferson and Longview the previous weekend, on my way here to Texas Motor Speedway, but they appreciated the cap and flag. The young couple are staying over in the track’s “Tent City”, and I can see their camp set-up with the other tents, across the bayou from us. It looks like they’re all having a good time over there. I met some Barksdale Air Force Base guys in their RV spot too, while we strolled around the camping area that we’re in. The Monster Energy ladies rode through the campgrounds, and visited with race fans, and I tried a can of their peach tea flavored beverage (very good! And, I felt a little peppy after I drank it.).
I always look forward to the practices, qualifying and racing, during the NASCAR weekends at Texas Motor Speedway, but also this weekend, is the T.M.S. Dirt Track winged sprint car racing, presented by Tony Stewart. The weather has been great since we arrived on Tuesday, and expecting great racing weather throughout the weekend.
I’ll drive the Tom’sMaHaul motorhome, pulling my Jeep, back to Bossier City, on Monday, and then be back in the radio station studio, by Tuesday morning. While I’ve been here at T.M.S., Bobby Cook messaged me about an interview with Boston that I’ll be doing on Wednesday, as Boston will rock the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium April 23rd.
Rockin’ N’ Racin’!
