We haven’t even made it to the official start of hurricane season and we’ve already had our first named storm. Thankfully Alberto has come and gone and did little damage in the process. Hurricane season begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th. This year is expected to be slightly above average or normal but not comparable to last year when 17 named storms formed and 3 major hurricanes struck US soil. Even though we aren’t very close to the coast, we still are very much affected when a storm forms or enters the gulf. We all remember Katrina and Rita and the devastating impact they had on our entire region. Let’s hope for a calmer, quieter season this year despite the predictions. We’ll Rock You Like a Hurricane and skip on the big storms!
